Cristina “la Kre” Vardanega is one of the few girls in the Italian skateboarding scene. Born in 1983, she grew up in a small city in the countryside of Treviso. She had a happy and dynamic childhood, spending her time doing many sports and always drawing, demonstrating a dreaming and lively attitude. After high school she attended a two year long course in Interior Design. Meanwhile she continued to cultivate her passion for board sports, as she started snowboarding and then skateboarding.

After 10 years she keeps on riding her board. Over the years she has participated to national contests, travelling and meeting young people with the same passion; she also collaborated with 6:00 am Skateboard Magazine, writing about this world of “Chicks on grip.” At the same time she managed to mix her two true passions: creativity and a love for skateboards. Everything started when she suddenly realized how many used skateboards were laying in a corner of her room. That day, using a broken board, she made her first work: a heart shaped clock inspired by a graphic from Element Skateboards.

She liked it so much that she began to recycle other boards, tailoring them with different shapes and designs, finding buyers and new ideas. She decided to extend her knowledge and skills through a course offered by an artistic carpenter at Bioforme in Milan. There, she was taught how to work and decorate wood in order to create a piece of furniture that expressed her vision. Now Cristina lives in Italy with her boyfriend and their dog, keeping on doing her design recycling skateboards and woodworking with love and passion, hoping that one day this will become a full time job.
