After graduating from the Academy of Fine Arts of Venice in 2001, Alessandro Simonetti became a professor of Photography at The Institute of Arts in Padova, Italy. He started shooting photos while he approached the nice young cultures in the early 90’s in Italy. His work has been published in ground-breaking international magazines such as I-D, Lodown, Arkitip, Tema Celeste, GQ and Rolling Stone.
For over a decade, his use of avant-garde photography methods and his ability to capture layers of cultural nuance beneath the surface of experience have placed him in the rare category of boundary-pushing pioneer.

Similar projects, which included contributions from New York influencers such as Steve Powers, Tony Arcabascio, Jules Kim, Sara Rosen and JK5, were created and produced by Simonetti for the PS1 MoMA Bookshop (Read Between The Lines) and for the Leica Gallery in New York City (The Last Neighborhood Standing).
He has shown his work at the Tate Modern London, Via Farini Milan, Ohwow Gallery Miami and during international art fairs such as Artissima in Turin and during Art Basel in Switzerland. For his last show UNCANNY, at Patricia Armocida Gallery in Milan, he worked with the NYC photographer Cheryl Dunn.
He also collaborated on special projects and shoots with brands as Philip Lim 3.1, Diesel, Carhartt WIP, Adidas, Nike, Pirelli and Dainese.

Il Clan Del Wu is Simonetti’s photo essay compiled in a self-published 96-page bookzine format featuring black and white images shot in film.
Taken during the Reunited in Full Force tour of 2010, Alessandro’s images capture the behind-the-scenes antics of the Wu-Tang Clan Staten Island crew (Ghostface Killah, Method Man, U-God, Raekwon the Chef, Inspectah Deck and Masta Killa) as they captivated Rome, Italy.
Only 1,000 copies will be produced. The limited edition book, which includes a silver gelatin 8×10″ print, is available at The Standard Hotel NYC , The Hole Gallery NYC and Bijulesterie NYC.
